Hustle for the House Race to Benefit Families of Critically Ill Children

Hustle for the House 5kThe Hustle for the House 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run will be held September 21, 2013. The races will begin at 7:30 a.m. for the 1 Mile Fun Run and 8:00 a.m. for the 5K. Participants are encouraged to wear Disco-tastic run wear this year.

The race starts and comes to a close at the Ronald McDonald House (2144 Fairfax Avenue, Nashville, Tennessee 37212). The certified course takes runners through residential areas of Hillsboro/West End.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Nashville are the beneficiaries of the race. They provide “compassionate hospitality and support to patients’ families while they are providing care and support to their sick child.” The Ronald McDonald House allows families of sick children a place to stay while seeking medical treatment at Nashville area hospitals. Often times these families would not have the resources to cover staying for such extended periods anywhere else.

One of their other resources for families is the Ronald McDonald Family Room located in the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The Family Room offers a place for families to wait comfortably-snacks, toys for younger visitors, a little oasis of respite during a trying time. About 3,500 vistors a month make use of the Family Room.

Registration for the race is available through Active.com
