Merrell’s Barefoot line for women is fantastic. Two styles came in this week, the Barefoot Pure Glove and the Barefoot Pace Glove. Both the Pure Glove and Pace Glove have the Vibram® Trail Glove Sole, 4mm compression molded EVA midsole cushions, and can be washed in cold on the gentle cycle and then air-dried. (As someone who loves getting on the trail with barefoot shoes, this machine washing aspect is crucial.) The Barefoot Pure Glove is super light, 4.4 ounces. There is a little bit of shock absorption, with a 1mm forefoot shock absorption plate that maintains forefoot flexibility and protects the foot by distributing pressure.
The Pace Glove is a little bit more substantial at 4.7 ounces, and provides some stability with a synthetic leather foot sling. Shown above in lavender and acacia (yellow), it also comes in a sleek black. I have an older pair of Nike Frees I keep for the trail, and after trying these on, they will be the next pair I get for day hiking. All the protection your feet need from rocks and roots, while letting you feel each step.
They are adventure shoes, so go have an adventure. Get out!
